Melissa's Story:
Melissa Pleasant is an attorney with over a decade of practice handling employment discrimination claims for federal employees, as well as two years of experience as an employee relations specialist. Melissa attended Yale University in New Haven, CT, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1999, and obtained her law degree in 2003 from Tulane Law School in New Orleans, LA. After passing the bar In Mississippi, she started her legal career as a staff attorney with the Innocence Project New Orleans, where she worked from 2003 to 2005. Due to Hurricane Katrina, she relocated to Washington, DC and was admitted to the DC bar in 2007. That same year, she began working as a trial attorney for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, litigating claims before the EEOC and the MSPB. Melissa remained at FEMA for over 13 years before leaving in 2022 for private practice.
Although Melissa still calls Connecticut home, she currently resides outside of Dallas, TX with her two children, ages 10 and 13. She loves reading, basketball, and collecting plants.
